THE OBJECTIVE

PSU wanted to create separate websites or microsites to address the specific concerns of various target audiences – alums looking to reconnect, a recent high school graduate transitioning to college life, or a mid-level professional looking for an evening and weekend program to jumpstart their career.

I oversaw the naming, design, development, and content creation for the new Portland State University Alumni website.

THE OBJECTIVE

Portland State University was re-introducing a new e-portfolio to both students and faculty. I was asked to analyze their failed attempts to get students to embrace and utilize this enhanced learning tool, then create a name and brand identity that would resonate and connect.

A FOCUS ON BENEFIT

Both the name and description focused on the benefit to the student and not merely its function. Research indicated that while students saw some value in an organized record of their academic experiences, many needed to understand the value a professional presentation of these accomplishments to graduate schools and potential employers would have on their near-term success.
