Tim has over 27 years of experience leading strategic marketing and communications efforts for professional services organizations and higher education institutions. A unique blend of marketing strategist and creative tactician, he provides guidance and leadership across marketing and communication channels leveraging creative design, sophisticated digital tools, and top-tier platforms to strengthen brand position while integrating marketing initiatives with university goals. Tim is an innovative, results-oriented leader who inspires others to be forward-facing in their approach to marketing and achieve excellence in all pursuits.
His approach is pragmatic and data-driven. His results? Nothing short of remarkable. As the Vice President of Marketing and Communications for Willamette University, Tim served as the president’s senior-most executive for strategic marketing and communications, focused on brand strategy, digital marketing, strategic communications, lead generation, enrollment, fundraising, and alumni and community engagement. Tim’s effective leadership reversed a seven-year decline in undergraduate enrollment in less than three years.
In a similar role as Chief Marketing Officer at Southwestern University, his teams have won national recognition for creative excellence and website design and development. While also producing the largest incoming undergraduate class in school history.
Tim has held previous roles as Managing Director and Creative Strategist with major agencies and design firms that have provided marketing and communications expertise for a host of national and international clients.
Tim received his Bachelor of Science in Business from Oregon State University and holds a Master of Management Science from Purdue University’s Krannert School of Business. He is a past president of both the Portland Advertising Federation and the Oregon Marketing Association. He is a strong supporter of USA Track and Field and is a certified NCAA Track and Field Official.
